Hollywood Private Hospital CEO Peter Mott is standing down after a nine-year tenure in which the Perth facility has expanded to become a major player in the national health industry.
Mr Mott is moving on to take a state-level strategic role at parent company Ramsay Health Care, with Hollywood now the largest private hospital in Australia and the biggest healthcare facility in Western Australia.
He has overseen several multi-million-dollar developments, including the commissioning of a new private emergency department in late 2021, and the hospital now has more than 900 beds and 2,000 staff caring for around 77,000 patients every year at the Nedlands campus.
"I am exceptionally proud of each of the capital projects we've delivered, particularly the impact they have had with improving access to health services in the community," said Mr Mott, who is also Vice-President of the Australian Private Hospitals Association (APHA).
"Our dedicated team of health professionals and support staff take great pride in delivering excellent patient care to achieve the best possible health outcomes.
"Of particular note was a review by the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards last year, where we received outstanding results and two exemplar in-practice nominations, which is testament to the great work our team do."
Mr Mott will be replaced by Andrew Tome, who had a two-year stint as a senior executive at Hollywood Private before returning to Ramsay-owned Peel Health Campus in 2019 to become its CEO.
After a transition period, Mr Mott will take on a part-time role assisting Ramsay Health Care's Chief Operating Officer – Hospitals, Greg Hall, who is also the group's WA State Manager.
"Notably the number of operating theatres increased from 10 to 20 during Peter's time as CEO," Mr Hall said.
"Peter also helped increase mental health in-patient beds to over 100, making Hollywood the largest private provider of mental health services in WA.
"Peter has also overseen the introduction of new clinical services including cardiothoracic surgery and a comprehensive cancer centre which features radiation oncology and a new state-of-the-art endoscopy suite."
Mr Mott was elected APHA Vice-President in October 2020, representing the For Profit – Large Group electorate.
He has been a member of APHA's Council and Board since the end of 2017, when he was appointed Chair of the Workforce Taskforce.
"As he prepares to depart, workforce is a key priority of the Association and will be a significant focus of our work going forward, particularly into the next Federal election," APHA President Dr Lachlan Henderson said.
