Search starts for nursing and midwifery leaders

Do you know anursing or midwifery professional who has demonstrated leadership, innovation, and pursued excellence to deliver high-quality patient care?

It is time to recognise their efforts, as nominations have opened for the 2023 HESTA Nursing and Midwifery Awards.

The 17thstaging of the national awards will showcase the nurses, midwives, nurse educators, researchers and personal care workers who are improving health outcomesby providing outstanding care and support for Australians in need.

Debby Blakey, CEO of health industry super fund HESTA, thanked nurses and midwives for their work and encouraged Australians to consider submitting a nomination.

"At HESTA, we're so thankful for the role nurses and midwives play in keeping our communities safe and we are truly honoured to help recognise these wonderful and dedicated professionals – they are our nation's heroes," Ms Blakey said.

"Nurses and midwives around the country have such an incredible impact on patients' lives. I really encourage all Australians to consider submitting a nomination for a nurse or midwife they know who has made a difference."

Employers, colleagues, and patients can make nominations up to the deadline of Sunday 5 February 2023.

The $30,000 prize pool will be split equally between the winners of each category: Nurse of the Year, Midwife of theYear, and Outstanding Organisation.

Finalists will be announced on Tuesday 4 April 2023, and the winners will be revealed at the awards ceremony in Sydney on Tuesday 16 May 2023.
