What's the best part about your job?
I enjoy the collaborative approach I adopt when leading my team as the staff respond to and thrive on contributing to decisions around change.When the team feel included and appreciated, they are happy to come to work and give their all.
What is something about your job that not many people know about, and what would surprise other people about working in a private hospital?
The role I have includes overseeing and managing Allied Health staff across all in-patient, day rehab, out-patient and mental health services.Working in a smaller private hospital provides the opportunity to have your voice heard and contribute to changes within the hospital.It also has a great support and educational structure for staff working on our wards.
What do you love about working in a private hospital?
The team around me and the opportunity and having the amount of autonomy to make decisions and steer my team in the direction of best patient outcomes.The flexibility and understanding of how I do my job is a big positive.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I enjoy watching my kids play basketball, gardening, weekend family dinners, and going to markets.
What is something your colleagues don't know about you?
My colleagues may not know that I am a brown belt in karate and won a national title.
What is the best piece of advice you've ever received?
"It doesn't matter how you get there or how you do it, as long as the job gets done" and "An organisation is only as good as its people, so empower them and it will thrive".
