A new surgical centre is planned to open in Redland City, giving people in south-east Queensland more treatment options closer to home.
Based in the coastal Cleveland area, the $16 million facility will feature gold-standard clinical services, offering the latest technology to enhance the patient experience.
It will be run by Ramsay Health Care, and is expected to open by late 2025.
Australia's largest private hospitals operator has been investing in the day surgery sector, including the recent purchase of the former Orange Private Hospital in New South Wales' Central Tablelands region.
"Ramsay Health Care is excited to provide the community with access to high-quality healthcare outside the traditional hospital setting," said the group's CEO for surgical centres, Claire Thurwood.
"Ramsay Surgical Centre Cleveland will focus on day surgery, working with some of Queensland's leading doctors and utilising advanced technology to ensure the best possible care for our patients."
The centre will be located in the new Cleveland Health Hub, which is being developed so locals do not have to travel to Brisbane for treatment, including people living in the islands of Moreton Bay.
It will include three purpose-built surgical theatres, providing a range of specialities including ophthalmology, orthopaedics, general surgery, endoscopy, ENT (ear, nose and throat), urology, plastic surgery and gynaecology.
"The centre will offer a new alternative for privately-insured patients and an affordable option for self-insured patients," Ms Thurwood added.
"For Redland City residents this should take some of the stress out of their surgeries, knowing they're close to home and only have a short commute following their procedure."
