Nominate 'an amazing nurse or midwife'

Tuesday 31st October, 2023

Every year, healthcare workers go beyond the call of duty to provide outstanding support for Australians in need – and now is the time to acknowledge their efforts.

Nominations have opened for the 2024 HESTA Australian Nursing and Midwifery Awards, which celebrate the dedicated people who demonstrate leadership, innovation, and pursued excellence to deliver high-quality patient care.

The awards recognise nurses, midwives, nurse educators, researchers and personal care workers who are improving health outcomes.

There are three categories – Nurse of the Year, Midwife of the Year and Outstanding Organisation – and each winner will take home $10,000.

HESTA CEO Debby Blakey encouraged Australians to consider making a nomination for the health superfund's annual awards, which will be held for the 18thtime in May 2024.

"For almost two decades the nursing and midwifery awards have provided a platform to recognise the exceptional nursing and midwifery professionals who consistently exceed expectations in delivering outstanding patient care," Ms Blakey said.

"Completing a nomination presents a chance to honour the accomplishments of nursing and midwifery professionals who have exhibited leadership, innovation and an unwavering commitment to achieving positive healthcare outcomes for Australians.

"I encourage anyone who has been impacted by an amazing nurse or midwife to make a nomination."

Employers, colleagues and patients have until Sunday 4 February 2024 to nominate a nursing or midwifery professional or organisation.

Finalists will be announced on Tuesday 16 April 2024 and the winners revealed at an awards ceremony in Melbourne the following month.
