Pacific Private Hospital is transitioning into a short-stay facility to meet rising demand for its healthcare services from the Gold Coast community.
The day hospital is due to complete a $13 million upgrade in early 2024 which will create over 50 jobs and help to attract clinical talent to the area from interstate and overseas.
The project will boost its operating theatre capacity from five to seven and add eight inpatient beds for patients requiring an overnight stay.
Its transition is part of operator Nexus Hospitals' focus on delivering methods of care that support enhanced recovery after surgery, so patients do not need lengthy post-operative stays or intensive care.
"At Pacific Private Hospital, we strive to deliver a personalised service to all our patients every day," General Manager and Director of NursingJane McLennan said.
"Safety, clinical excellence, and professionalism are paramount. Healthcare is not about sitting still –so we continually evolve our models to provide patients with the best possible care and the fastest path to a successful recovery that allows them to get on with their lives."
Located in Southport, Pacific Private Hospital has been delivering world-class surgical services in a boutique setting for over 20 years, and joined the Nexus group in late 2022.
It has already started taking bookings from surgeons for the new theatres, which will help to meet high demand for specialties including ophthalmology, plastic surgery, gastroenterology, oral and maxillofacial surgery, orthopaedics, and Mohs surgery.
It will also be able to cater for higher acuity specialties and patients with severe conditions requiring immediate treatment.
