Ramsay rises in graduate rankings

Wednesday 6th March, 2024

Australia's largest private hospitals operator has maintained its status as the leading healthcare employer in a survey of graduates.

Last year, Ramsay Health Care became the first company from the health sector to reach the country's top 100 list in the survey by Prosple – an international job platform for university students.

It has risen from 80thin the 2023 rankings to 53rdthis time.

Associate Professor Bernadette Eather, the group's Chief Nurse and Clinical Services Director, said Ramsay had worked hard to create a quality graduate program to attract and retain the next generation of healthcare workers.

"Ramsay's Graduate Pathways Program was specifically designed to support new graduates and interns to transition from study to the workforce," she said.

"It offers the opportunity for a two-year program, with a foundational Graduate Year, designed to help participants develop in their clinical practice and gain confidence as they transition into the workplace."

A/Prof Eather said the second year gave graduates the choice of a number of development streams, including supported postgraduate study, regional placement, and additional sub-speciality clinical rotations.

"This allows graduates to focus their experience, learning and development in the direction they are most passionate," she added.

Ramsay had over 400 new graduates starting in February 2024, joining the 700 who entered the program in 2023.

The Pathways Program is open to registered nurses, enrolled nurses, registered midwives, allied health graduates and pharmacy interns.

"As Australia's largest private healthcare provider, we're in the unique position to offer graduates experience across surgery, medicine, mental health, midwifery, perioperative, critical care, oncology, pharmacy and rehabilitation in some of the country's most highly-regarded facilities," A/Prof Eather said.
