San cycling team leads charity fundraising

Tuesday 16th April, 2024

Sydney Adventist Hospital staff have been praised for their "tremendous" charity efforts at the 2024 Bobbin Head Cycle Classic.

The entrants from New South Wales' largest private hospital, also known as the San, topped the table in the team fundraising section.

San Cyclists raised $7,700 for Australian suicide prevention charity Lifeline, while Store Supervisor Selda Deniz was the second-highest individual fundraiser with a total of $4,625.

"I'd like to thank everyone for all their support, I am very grateful for each and every person who took the time to donate for this great cause," she said.

Adventist HealthCare CEO Brett Goods was among those taking part.

"It's wonderful to have doctors and staff come together for this event, and I would like to express my gratitude for their tremendous fundraising efforts," he said.

"I am very proud of the San Cyclists team for their exceptional efforts this year. It was a fantastic day and I am already looking forward to seeing what we can achieve in 2025."

The Bobbin Head Classic has become one of Sydney's most iconic cycling events, with competitors testing themselves in four distance categories ranging from 27 kilometres to 104km.

"As a first-time Bobbo rider it was great to get amongst it and achieve my riding goal, despite the many hills sent to test me out," said San Cyclists' Mitch Hill, GP Liaison at the hospital.
