Ramsay joins global workforce initiative

Monday 24th June, 2024

Australia's largest private hospitals operator has joined a global initiative aimed at growing opportunities for one of the largest sectors of the healthcare workforce.

Ramsay Health Care has partnered with Health Careers International Australia (HCI) and Arizona State University (ASU) to meet increased demand for qualified nurses in all sectors of the industry.

Together they will deliver HCI's new Education for Employment model to address a predicted rise of 533,000 roles in the healthcare and social assistance sectors between 2023 and 2033.

"We're excited to be partnering withHCI, which has an excellent reputation for student satisfaction and graduate employment," said Ramsay's Chief Nurse and Clinical Services Director, Associate Professor Bernadette Eather.

"Ramsay is very focused on providing a comprehensive career pathway for nurses and midwives," she added.

"We are committed to ensuring accessible education for regional Australians and to training the workforce of the future to meet the needs of the healthcare sector.

"This partnership with HCI andASUwill support the development of a highly skilled workforce, which is essential for the delivery of high quality, safe and effective clinical care for our patients."

The partnership will be part of theASU-Cintana Alliance, a global network of future-focused universities working together to deliver quality academic programs addressing economic and social needs.

It will be the Alliance's first move into Australia's higher education sector, and Ramsay's first strategic partnership of this kind with a tertiary education provider.

It will also support Ramsay's Nursing and Midwifery Academy, which develops comprehensive career pathways from undergraduate level to leadership and research.

HCI's founder and CEO, Dr Bijo Kunnumpurath, said the partnership marked a milestone in its mission to empower Australian and international students to thrive in the evolving global healthcare landscape – where innovative education solutions are needed to resolve workforce shortages.

"It leverages ASU's world-class content and robust learning resources to increase students' employability, while our collaboration with Ramsay Health Care ensures undergraduates receive well-supported clinical placements," he said.
