A team of fun-runners from Sydney Adventist Hospital has raised thousands of dollars for patient care at the 2024 City2Surf event.
The 31-strong San Steppers were among an estimated 90,000 participants at the annual run from Sydney's CBD to Bondi Beach.
The team of doctors, nurses and staff – including Adventist HealthCare CEO Brett Goods – raised $16,500 through the hospital's San Foundation, which will be used for cardiac services.
Overall, the largest field in the event's 54-year history raised more than $3 million for charity.
"A huge 'thank you' to everyone who signed up, donated and supported us along the way. Your generosity and spirit made all the difference," Mr Goods said.
New South Wales' largest private hospital, also known as the San, received a prestigious certification ahead of the City2Surf event.
It is now one of 19 sites in the country to be recognised by the Australian Stroke Coalition for a dedicated unit caring for stroke patients.
"This achievement would not have been possible if not for the dedication of everyone involved," saidActing Nurse Unit Manager Krista Dormitorio, who accepted the certificate during National Stroke Week 2024 (Monday 5 August to Sunday 11 August).
"So, thank you to all the individuals and teams who contributed to improve the San's stroke service. Together, we have achieved something truly remarkable, making a significant positive impact on the lives of stroke patients and their families."
