Warringal Private Hospital has moved onto stage two of its $180 million redevelopment after celebrating "a significant milestone" in the long-term project.
Due to be finished in late 2026, the expansion plan will almost double the size of the Melbourne facility, turning it into a multi-tower, 290-bed site.
Stage one's completion included the opening of a new 21-bay Post-Anaesthesia Care Unit (PACU) plus the addition of three new floors to the existing building plus a new café and theatre dining room.
"The opening of the new recovery area was a significant milestone for us," Warringal Private Hospital CEO Maree Mendola said.
"Prior to this, Warringal ran two PACUs – one in the North theatre complex and the other in the South. The new PACU has allowed us to combine the two into one centralised unit for all patients and staff.
"The space is large and bright and has been a very positive and welcome addition to our perioperative department, improving not only patient experience but also the working experience for our hard-working PACU staff."
