Burnside Hospital is embarking on an ambitious $60 million expansion project to increase healthcare options for Adelaide residents.
The private hospital has lodged a development application for a new health precinct on Kensington Road, Toorak Gardens, directly opposite its current location on Moore Street.
Burnside Hospital CEO Alan Morrison said the new facility would be connected to the existing site via a bridge.
"Given our outstanding clinical outcomes, and convenient location, the demand for our services is significant," he said.
"The new precinct will cover 3,800 square metres and will include three levels of underground parking, which will decompress the need for on-street parking in our area.
"The facility will feature a comprehensive radiology suite, along with radiation oncology, and chemotherapy services.
"We will also introduce a fertility service that will complement our existing maternity and obstetrics care."

Demolition of the current Godfree House site is scheduled to begin at the end of the 2024, with the precinct set for practical completion in early 2027.
It will feature two additional operating rooms to address the growing demand for day surgeries, along with a procedure room and specialist consulting rooms.
"There's a significant need in the area, and this expansion will allow more patients to access cutting-edge technology locally," Mr Morrison said.
"For cancer patients, this means continuity of care. Navigating an emotional and physical journey is challenging, and having all your specialists, surgeons, and treatment in one familiar place is invaluable.
"Reducing the need to travel is a tremendous relief to patients and their families."
Mr Morrison acknowledged the financial strain on Australia's hospital system, with many facilities cutting back services or closing altogether. The new health precinct is designed to secure Burnside Hospital's future.
"With demand in our area, scaling up will also generate vital revenue," he said.
"This development is key to ensuring and continuing to serve our community."
