Expansion boosts Hunter Valley health services

Tuesday 12th November, 2024

Hunter Valley residents now have more options for mental health and cancer care thanks to "a fantastic development" at Maitland Private Hospital.

The Healthe Care facility has opened a $15 million new cancer centre, more than doubling the capacity of the previous unit.

The hospital's expanded Barrington Clinic is also now taking patients for on-site mental health services, having added 24 private beds.

"This is a fantastic development for our local community," Maitland Private Hospital CEO Peter Cizzio said.

"Having brand-new cancer and mental health facilities available for the residents of Maitland and the Hunter Valley, saves travel and ensures the best possible care for our patients."

"The addition of more chairs, larger support areas and the latest technology, such as scalp cooling devices, will provide a much more comfortable environment for our patients," Dr Paterson said.

The modernised Barrington Clinic now has capacity for 68 inpatients, with therapy and sensory rooms and a private outdoor terrace.

Both treatment centres are accepting referrals from insured and self-funded patients.
