Port Macquarie Private Hospital has officially launched its $10 million project to improve access to high-quality healthcare for New South Wales' growing Mid North Coast community.

The redevelopment has begun with a sod-turning ceremony attended by the Ramsay Health Care hospital's CEO, Moira Finch, and State MP for Port Macquarie, Mr Rob Dwyer.

Expected to be completed by April 2026, it will deliver a new operating theatre, improved patient amenities, expanded diagnostic services and more parking.

The plan was designed to meet increasing demand for private healthcare in the region.

"This redevelopment will allow us to offer more services, more comfort and more convenience for our patients," Ms Finch said.

"With a growing population and increasing demand for private healthcare in the region, it's the right time to expand our facilities and future-proof our services."

Stage one of the project includes the addition of a seventh operating theatre, the introduction of onsite radiology, and upgrades to 12 existing patient rooms.

"A new main reception area, expanded day surgery admission area, and additional parking will improve the hospital experience for patients and visitors alike," Ms Finch added.

"And a new central sterilising area will be constructed to support the hospital's expanding operations."

Stage two of the redevelopment will include additional operating theatres, day surgery and inpatient spaces, an onsite pharmacy and new consulting suites.

Built in 1979, Port Macquarie Private Hospital is a 72-bed facility offering a comprehensive range of medical, surgical, and rehabilitation services.

Its redevelopment is part of Ramsay Health Care's continued investment in sustainable, accessible care for local communities.
