Icon Group CEO Mark Middleton has been named 2025 Australian Healthcare Executive of the Year at a prestigious awards ceremony in Melbourne.

Mr Middleton was also runner-up in the overall CEO of the Year category at the annual event run by The CEO Magazine.

"It's an honour to have been nominated and for our team to be recognised with this award," he said.

"At Icon, our values and mission drive everything we do. This recognition is a reflection of every Icon team member and the work they do each day to ensure no one feels alone, and that every person in our care feels supported.

"I couldn't be prouder to lead this team and see the difference they make in the lives of so many around the world."

It was the third time Mr Middleton had been selected as a finalist in the Executive of the Year Awards since becoming CEO at cancer care provider Icon in 2015.

The awards recognise and celebrate innovative and impactful leaders across Australian industries.

Mr Middleton has helped Icon grow into a global operation with a team of more than 3,500 people and a network of over 400 clinicians in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia and the United Kingdom.

Icon Cancer Centre has more than 40 facilities across Australia, many of them partnering with private hospitals, making it the country's leading dedicated cancer care network.

"No matter how much we grow, or where we deliver care – our mission remains at the heart," said Mr Middleton, who was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the 2022 Queen's Birthday Honour's List.

"We believe that where you live, should not determine if you live, or the quality of care you receive and that's why we're committed to innovating and transforming healthcare so people, their families and communities can access the care they deserve."

Icon Group released a statement congratulating Mr Middleton for his success at the awards.

"Mark was recognised for his leadership of Icon in pursuit of its mission to bring the best care possible to more people, closer to home and to help address the growing global cancer burden," it said.

"Focused on reshaping the future of cancer care, Mark has been the driving force behind the introduction of Icon's latest technologies, research and AI adoptions, maintaining strong industry partnerships, and his clinician-led approach has helped attract experienced specialists to Icon's growing network."
