Burnside Hospital's new CEO Rebecca Badcock is excited by the challenge of leading "such a fantastic team" into its major expansion project.
The private Adelaide facility has been cleared to start work on its planned $65 million Health Precinct, with building due to begin in late 2025.
"I'm excited to step into this new role with Burnside Hospital, particularly as we near the start of construction on our new facility," said Ms Badcock, who replaces Alan Morrison as CEO.
"Leading such a fantastic team into this next chapter across our Toorak Gardens and Stepney locations and working alongside the many new service providers joining the new Burnside Hospital Health Precinct is something I'm really looking forward to."
Burnside's new facility will deliver much-needed additional cancer services and increased surgical capacity to communities in Adelaide's east.
The first patients are likely to be welcomed in 2028.
Burnside Hospital Board Chair Anne Hinton backed Ms Badcock as "the ideal candidate" to lead the project, having impressed in her previous role as Regional CEO of Southern NSW/ACT at Calvary Health Care.
She has also served in executive and senior roles at Central Adelaide and Southern Adelaide Local Health Networks.
"As we enter the next exciting chapter of Burnside Hospital with the development of our new Health Precinct, the Board and I firmly believe that Rebecca's skills and experience make her the ideal candidate to lead us into this next phase," Ms Hinton said.
"She has extensive experience in both the public and private hospital sector, and we have every confidence that Rebecca will guide the organisation with strategic clarity and determination while bringing her own valuable perspective to the role."
Mr Morrison, who joined Burnside Hospital from Sportsmed in 2022, has taken up a new role with South Australian retirement living and in-home care provider ECH.
