Cura network expands in regional Victoria

Bendigo Day Surgery is Cura's second site in regional Victoria

Cura Day Hospitals Group has strengthened its presence in Victoria with the acquisition of Bendigo Day Surgery.

The multidisciplinary private day hospital is Cura's sixth facility in Victoria and 39th across Australia, consolidating the group's position as a leading short-stay healthcare provider.

It is located 150 kilometres north-west of Melbourne in the state's fourth-biggest city.

"Bendigo Day Surgery is a highly-regarded facility with a strong reputation for its specialist theatre teams and outstanding, professional care," Cura Group CEO Peter Freeleagus said.

"This addition to the Cura network enhances our ability to meet growing demand for short-stay surgery in regional locations."

The acquisition supports Cura's strategic focus on delivering high-quality, patient-centred care through its national network of day hospitals and short-stay private hospitals.

The group has four sites within the Metropolitan Melbourne area, plus Ballarat Day Procedure Centre in Victoria's third-largest city.

Bendigo Day Surgery has three operating theatres and offers a comprehensive range of surgical specialties, so residents do not need to travel to Melbourne for most day surgery services.

It was previously owned and operated by local medical specialists who understand the health needs of the Bendigo community – a similar model to that which led to the founding of Cura in 2008.

"We are delighted to welcome the staff and doctors of Bendigo Day Surgery to Cura," Mr Freeleagus said.

"We look forward to supporting the team as they continue to provide exceptional care to patients and contribute to Cura's ongoing success."
