A new era will begin at Icon Group on 1 July 2026, when Australia's largest dedicated cancer care provider starts life without one of its founding leaders.

Ross Koscharsky, who has helped Icon grow into a global organisation since it was formed in 2015, is retiring at the end of June.

Global Director of Icon Cancer Centre for the past three years, he was previously Chief Financial Officer as the group went through three changes of private equity ownership.

He was involved in more than 25 merger and acquisition processes and multiple debt and equity raisings, sustained financial success, and Icon's expansion into Malaysia, Indonesia, the United Kingdom and Germany.

As well as its cancer centres – many partnered with private hospitals – Icon has branched out into chemotherapy compounding and pharmacy services with its Slade Health and Epic divisions.

"When I stepped into this role, I did so with a clear goal – to help lead Icon through its next chapter of growth and to ensure the business was well positioned for the future," Mr Koscharsky said.

"I'm incredibly proud of what we've achieved together and confident that Icon is in a strong, sustainable position to continue delivering on its mission, care for more communities and delivering the best care possible."

Icon Group CEO Mark Middleton said Mr Koscharsky had been "a defining leader" during this period of ambitious growth internationally.

"From our foundations through to our evolution into a truly global organisation, Ross has been a steady hand, a trusted counsel and someone uniquely equipped to lead Icon through a period of significant transformation," Mr Middleton said.

"He is a leader of the highest integrity, with a deep sense of responsibility and care for others. Ross has lived and breathed his commitment to Icon, and his work ethic and values have left a lasting mark on our culture and our organisation."

A chartered accountant, Mr Koscharsky joined Icon at a time when it was rapidly expanding from its early clinics in Queensland – he now oversees 55-plus (with several under construction) cancer centres around the world, including more than 40 in Australia.

"People have always been at the heart of Icon – our teams, our doctors, and most importantly our patients. To see how far the organisation has come, and the impact it now has across multiple countries, has been incredibly rewarding," he said.

"I leave knowing the business is led by exceptional people who will continue to build on this foundation."

The next chapter of his life will involve travel, community involvement and some golf but Mr Koscharsky will keep an interested eye on Icon's progress.

"Icon's strategy is clear, its leadership is strong, and its future is incredibly exciting – I'm excited to watch Icon continue to grow and make a difference," he said.

"I'm grateful to have been part of this success story and now look forward to spending quality time with my family and friends."
