St Andrew's Hospital in Adelaide has announced the appointment of its new CEO, Angela McCabe.

Ms McCabe said she was honoured to be taking on the role at the hospital, which was founded in 1936 and is now Australia's largest standalone independent private facility.

"I am incredibly proud to join St Andrew's Hospital, an organisation with a long-standing reputation for excellence in patient care," she said.

"As the hospital celebrates its 90th year, I look forward to working closely with the Board, clinicians and staff to build on this strong foundation and continue delivering exceptional care to our community.

"St Andrew's Hospital has a clear vision for the future, and I am excited to lead the organisation through its next phase, strengthening partnerships, supporting our people and ensuring the highest standards of care for our patients."

Ms McCabe has more than two decades of senior healthcare leadership experience across both private and public hospital settings.

She held executive roles with Calvary Health Care, Adelaide Community Healthcare Alliance (ACHA) and Healthscope, including general manager and state manager positions, where she led complex organisations and delivered high-quality patient care.

St Andrew's Board chairman David Whitbread said Ms McCabe's extensive experience and values-driven leadership made her an excellent choice to lead the hospital.

"As St Andrew's Hospital celebrates 90 years of outstanding patient care, the Board and I are delighted to appoint Angela McCabe as our new chief executive officer," he said.

"Ms McCabe brings a deep understanding of both the public and private healthcare sectors, along with a strong track record in strategic leadership, operational excellence and building trusted relationships with clinicians, staff and stakeholders.

"She is a collaborative and values-led leader, and we are confident she will guide St Andrew's Hospital with clarity and purpose, as we continue to strengthen our services for the community."

Mr Whitbread said Ms McCabe had demonstrated strong capability in strategic planning, financial performance, and service development, including leading hospital growth initiatives, workforce planning and major service expansions.

Ms McCabe succeeds Eileen Sawyer, who served as CEO from early 2025, and prior to that Stephen Walker, who retired in 2024 after 23 years in the role.
