Baxter Healthcare has announced Steven Flynn will lead the global medtech company's Asia Pacific operations.
Mr Flynn has been promoted from his role as General Manager of Baxter Australia and New Zealand, which he held since 2015, to take the position of Senior Vice President and President Baxter Asia Pacific.
He will report directly to Baxter International's Chairman,President and CEO, José E. Almeida.
He succeeds Andrew Fry, who held the role since 2017 but now leads Baxter's Enterprise Connectivityorganisation, a critical pillar in the company's connected care strategy.
Mr Flynn said he was honoured to lead the region as Baxter – which completed a $10.5 billion acquisition of digital health firm Hillrom in December 2021 – begins the nextstage of its strategic transformation to accelerate innovation in healthcare.
"The Asia Pacific region is a highly diversified and dynamic market with increasingopportunities to transform healthcare by partnering with our customers to create value and new levels of care for patients and clinicians," he said.
"Our recent acquisition of Hillrom has accelerated our presence into connected care. Weare also focused on continuing to unlock operational efficiencies and innovation across our coreportfolios."
Australian Private Hospitals Association CEO Michael Roff congratulated Mr Flynn on his appointment, noting Baxter's long association with the peak industry body.
Mr Flynn, who joined Baxter in 2006, has also served as a board member for six years at theMedical Technology Association of Australia, where he was vice chair from 2015 to2021.
He has more than 27 years of experience working as a senior commercial executive in the automotive, logistics and healthcare industries.
Baxter is a Major Sponsor of the Australian Private Hospitals Association.
