What's the best part about your job?
The diversity of all the different areas of influence. Being able to inspire people to learn and to promote personal and professional growth.
What is something about your job that not many people know about, and what would surprise other people about working in a private hospital?
Understanding the holistic workings of a hospital, truly what it takes to run a facility. All the different departments cannot function autonomously, it's all interlinked and dependent on the other – we can't provide patient care if the rooms and linen aren't clean or maintained.
It takes a whole lot of dedicated people to create a successful workplace, working together helping people live their best lives.
What may surprise people about working in a private hospital?
The opportunity and support for professional growth and the amount of freedom in practising a specialty within the boundaries of patient safety.
What do you love about working in a private hospital?
Even though Ramsay Health Care is the biggest private healthcare provider in Australia, I don't feel like just one of the masses – we are a family, and we are truly 'People caring for people' (Ramsay's motto).
What do you like to do outside of work and/or what is something your colleagues don't know about you?
I love being with my family and love being home but something that may be unexpected is that I love working with my husband in renovation and construction, strapping on my tool belt and using power tools!
What is the best piece of advice you've ever received?
Never stop learning, you are only limited by your ability to say yes to opportunity.
Don't accept the 'status quo' as the only truth, ask questions and push the boundaries of understanding!
