Peter Arnold, 73, has been a Porter at Mt Wilga Private Rehabilitation Hospital in Sydney for six years, having previously been a Wardsman at the Ramsay Health Care facility.
What's the best part about your job?
Interacting with our patients and also the wonderful team that I work with on a daily basis.
What is something about your job that not many people know about, and what would surprise other people about working in a private hospital?
Working at Mt Wilga feels like a very personal experience, where I have made many close friends and also often get the chance to meet up with previous patients that have been in the hospital on many occasions.
What do you love about working in a private hospital?
Small and personal with easy access to management if required.
What do you like to do outside of work and/or what is something your colleagues don't know about you?
I have a passion for classic cars and have owned one for many years (Triumph TR6).
My wife and I have two wonderful grandchildren who give us much joy.
I worked in the Materials Handling industry for 45 years prior to joining the healthcare industry. My roles were involved in sales and marketing and also management roles.
What is the best piece of advice you've ever received?
Enjoy Life (motorsports legend Peter Brock in 2002).
