Narelle Crosling - The Bays Hospital

Narelle Crosling has been Community Engagement Coordinator for The Bays Hospital on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula since July 2022.

What's the best part about your job?

I am very privileged in my role supporting our amazing volunteers and members who help to make us unique as a non-profit hospital. The Bays is known for 'The Bays Difference', and I feel these two groups play a huge part in that.

Their commitment and passion for The Bays is key to making us who we are.

What is something about your job that not many people know about, and what would surprise other people about working in a private hospital?

What might surprise others is how we feel like our own family community here, where everyone knows you. That strong sense of connection and dedication, whether from staff or volunteers, makes all the difference in ensuring our patients feel supported and cared for every step of the way.

What do you love about working in a private hospital?

The importance of connection. Although the role I play may be a small part, I feel privileged to contribute to the bigger picture. It's incredibly rewarding knowing that every little action helps make a difference, whether it's supporting patients, families, or the incredible team here.

For our patients, they get to see the same smiling faces, which helps create a sense of familiarity and comfort.

What do you like to do outside of work and/or what is something your colleagues don't know about you?

Outside of work, my favourite thing to do is walk along the beach with my husband and our golden retriever. There's something about the combination of the ocean and sand that really helps me feel grounded.

What is the best piece of advice you've ever received?

Take the time to stop, inhale, and truly enjoy the big moments, the small moments, and everything in between.

Life is full of precious experiences, and it's important to celebrate them all, no matter how big or small.
